Floral Care Guidelines
To take care of your flowers, keep these few points in mind:
- Check on your flowers on a daily basis. Always add new water mixed with fresh flower food every other day.
- Trim the stems under water every few days. This prevents air pockets from forming inside the stem. Your flowers cannot drink if this occurs.
- Keep your flowers in a cool place - away from drafts, any direct source of heat, and of course, sunlight.
- Remove any fallen leaves that in the vase. Submerged leaves create bacteria quickly. Your bouquet will live longer if you do this.
- If your flowers are wilting, re-cut the stems under water. Then submerge them in a tub filled with cool water. Allow them to soak for 15-20 minutes before replacing them.
- To revitalize a wilted flower: Dip the flower stems in a cup of vodka or gin for up to five seconds. Then immediately put them in fresh water. If the blooms are drooping, use a pin to prick the stem just beneath the flower.
